Uses

RAK BLOCK FIX can be used for laying internal and external AAC (Autoclaved Aerated Concrete) blocks and panels.

Mixing

To prepare the mixture, pour in a container 10 to 10.5 Liters of clean water. Add a bag of 50 Kg of RAK BLOCK FIX, then mix to get a homogeneous lump free consistency mix. Let the product rests for about 5 minutes and remix shortly before use.

Consumption

4 – 5 kg/ m²

Application

Saturate the block surface with water before applying the adhesive mortar any excess water should be removed. Place the first line of blocks on concrete slab using a traditional cement mortar. Apply RAK BLOCK FIX with special toothed trowel and then position the blocks verifying their alignment. Remove possible excess of mortar before it hardens. Ensure that the adhesive spread on the blocks has not formed a superficial film. In this case apply fresh mix with the toothed trowel. RAK BLOCK FIX should be applied in a thin layer to enable the continuity of thermo-insulation of the blocks. Leave a space of about 2 cm between the top of block wall and the bottom of slab or beam in order to avoid formation of cracks along the wall. This cavity should be filled with compressible material (see relative technical data sheets). After 24 hours of fixing the block wall, plastering may start using an appropriate plastering product such as RAK PLASTER 200

Cleaning

Tools and equipment should be cleaned with water immediately after use. Hardened materials should be mechanically removed.

Recommendations

  • If the blocks are laid directly on a floor with possible humidity rising, it is recommended to apply a proper damp course system first
  • The 2 cm separation between the top of the block wall and the bottom of slab or beam should be filled with suitable compressible material
  • Spray the block wall with water before applying the plaster.
  • Ensure that the first layer of blocks is fixed proper with perfect alignment
  • Do not apply RAK BLOCK FIX in rainy weather, high winds and sand storms
  • Do not apply on surface that has temperature less than +5ºC
  • During summer season, working area should be covered to prevent the direct sun eects. Keep equipment cool and use a cool water
  • The product should not be exposed to moving water during application

Storage

Store in a dry covered place in original well closed packaging. Shelf life is 12 months if stored as recommended.
