Application Data
Surface Preparation
New Construction: Concrete floors, to be coated, should be allowed to cure for at least 15 days. Floor should be sound, clean and free from oils, grease, mortar, loose particles, dust etc. Laitance should be removed using mechanical means such as vacuum recovery shot blasting. Moisture content should be less than 5%.
Existing substrate
All contamination must be removed, and a sound clean substrate should be exposed. Mechanical means of preparation are preferred followed by the removal of dust and other loose debris using an industrial vacuum. All cracks and minor damage surfaces should be repaired and allowed to dry prior to priming.
Application method | Spray, Roller or Brush |
Cleaning/thinning | Rakam Epoxy Thinner (thinner should only be added after mixing the component) |
Thinner volume | 5-10% depending on method of application |
Conv. Spray requirements | Atomizing pressure: 40 psi |
Airless Spray requirements | Pressure: 2000 – 2200 psi |
Nozzle size | 0.018″ -0.020″ |
Mixing ratio(volume) | Base: Hardener 4:1 (Mix thoroughly, keep for 10 – 15 minutes before use) |
Pot life@30°c (100 ml) | 6-8 hours (reduced at higher temperature) |
Drying Time
Drying time @ 30°C (Temperature, humidity, air movement, film thickness and number of coats all affect the drying time.)
Touch Dry | 3 – 6 hours |
Dry to re-coat/overcoat | 12(min) – 72 |
Fully Cured *With same generic type paint | 1.5 – 2.0 mm |
Output pressure | 4 days |
Recommended Uses
General purpose flooring topcoat for cementitious surfaces. It can be applied by spray, roller and brush. It can be used with recommended size aggregates also for light duty flooring.
Handling and Storage
Store the paint in proper storage conditions as per the local regulations. Keep the paint container in sealed condition under shed, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Do not stock paint materials near to any ignition sources. Do not put back the half or unused material back in original container, containing the supplied paint, to avoid contamination. Handle with care. Stir well before use.
Advantages
Good adhesion, good resistant to water and mild chemicals, good flow abrasion and impact resistance, easy to clean.
Health and Safety
Avoid skin & eye contact by wearing overalls, gloves, goggles, and air mask etc. Spillage on skin should immediately be removed be thorough washing with water & soap or suitable cleaner. Eye should be flushed with fresh water. Avoid inhalation of vapors and paint mist by wearing suitable air mask. In the event of ingestion and eye contact, seek medical attention immediately. Painting must be carried out in well-ventilated area.
This as industrial product contains flammable materials & should be kept away from the sparks and open flames, smoking in the area should not be permitted. Local safety regulations should be followed.
System
Recommended system:
To be applied on prepared surface No. of coats x DFT (micron)
Rakam epoxy primer for cement clear : 1 x 40
Rakam epoxy flooring topcoat : 2 x 75
For ant skidding, spread recommended size aggregates, when first coat is wet. After drying apply second coat. For exposed area of applications, overcoat above system with polyurethane coatings.
Additional Data
Shelf life@ 30°C
18 months, in original sealed container, with proper storage conditions.
